Google Earth

Google Earth is a fun tool to play with. Type in a country or city and this program displays beautiful satellite photographs of that locale.  I thought it would be fun to type in the locales of the original countries of my ESL students.

They loved it! Their faces beamed with pride when they saw images of their original homes! It was a great way to get the students into a conversation.

Google Earth is worth exploring. I am going to take some time to develop some lesson plans to use this tool in class. It is a great starting point to create a virtual Where in the World is Carmon Sandiego? game.

I also joined the Google Earth community. I am going to post a message on their forum and see if some of their members will create some educational uses of Google Earth. I’ll share the results on this blog.

Sincerely,

Alan
