Learning to program a computer teaches you to think logically and to make your computer work for you. Programming has the potential to improve your problem-solving skills whether the problem is computer-related or not.
This article is the first in a series that teaches you the basics of computer programming. The examples are written in Basic, a free version called Just Basic (www.justbasic.com). Many of the examples will run on different versions of Basic. Many of the concepts explained are applicable to all programming languages.
