I am doing some work in math education, a subject that more people should become more knowledgeable about. When a person graduates from high school, how much math should they know? Trigonometry? Basic Calculus? Statistics? Algebra? Geometry? Just enough to get by in everyday life? Or to turn the question around, “How much math is necessary for everyday life?”
Should students learn math using calculators? spreadsheets? Computer games?
Do you have a favorite math story you would like to share? Math horror story?
